I've been in austin on vacation all week. i've had a chance to throw Cat Hollow and Bartholomew parks so far. If you like fairway-golf (short, controlled, strictly playing for par-golf) you'll love this heavily wooded short holed course. most holes are less than or about 250ft.
Bartholomew has a lot of long open holes, and a really gnarly ravine/creek hazard across a lot of the park. bart.park is a very diversified course with lefthander/righthander/short/long/wooded/clear/heavily hazarded holes.. it's got something for everyone.

birds abound at this course, and ace runs today were plentiful. no more aces so far, but my whole party had at least three really really close ace runs apiece.

Cat Hollow -- i'd give it about a 6 out of ten. (because i lost two discs on the opening drives at hole one, one right after the other)
Bart -- Bartholomew gets nine out of ten points on my scale. The only thing it needs is for alcohol to be allowed in the park for a ten.

Bartholomew is a cool course, but Pease Park is the shit.

agreed Pease Park is the shit. with an on-site pro shop and refreshment centre in the parking lot, this course has some truly wicked holes. the creek was particularly high yesterday, city workers had busted a water main on Lamar.. so it was a fast moving and deep creek. right now the basket is missing on hole 12, someone stole it... but i had a blast. shot +3 after 21 holes in pease park. i'll bring back a map of the course in case someone wants to put it in a database or some other crap....

yet another addition to my austin course review... i think it was called wells branch. nice little nine holer. busted out with my second ACE on probably the easiest hole there #5. less than 100 feet i'd imagine. tommy, you'd ace it with your putter every time. great little course. played through four times and still didn't feel like i'd gone through the front nine at PI. sweet little course!

Yep, if you're going to play any one course in Austin, it's Pease. It's a microcosm of all Austin disc golf. It's got lots of elevation, a stoney creek bed thoughout the course, trees, open shots, and just an overall cool park atomosphere. Plus you'll often see the mobile disc golf stand with an always friendly and knowledgeable staff. It's also centrally located therefore represents sort of the heart of Austin disc golf. It's a must play in the capitol city.

Second and third courses in Austin is Circle C and Bartholomew, respectively. Must play courses just outside Austin are Old Settlers in Round Rock, and the Resort Course in Lago Vista. Overlooking Lake Travis, the Resort Course is an absolute treasure.
