Everytime I drive by this park on Deleware I wish there could be a course there. (Real close to home!) They'd have to cut down some of the trees, though. It has thinned out a lot over the past several years, however. Surely theres enough land there for 18 holes. I'll keep dreaming! Neal

We have looked at that park a few times, If we put a course there it would be a mud pit every time it rained, and all winter long. If the city ever raised the land in there it might not be a bad idea to get a course put in. As it is right now though, when it rains water puddles up really bad.

klein is muddy most of the winter BUT it is nothing like what that park is during the winter.

I didn't realize that it flooded. Too bad.

Dustin and I are gonna look into Wuthering Heights a bit more soon. I think Klein has held way more water this winter than Wuthering Heights has. If anyone has an extra basket they'd like to put in out there let us know. I have an extra that I'm willing to use. I'm gonna go there when it dries up a bit and scope out a possible layout.

Im gonna monitor the water situation out there after it rains.

If it really does hold water, say, worse than klein and terryl, then I wouldnt want to put a course there.

I want the next course in Beaumont to be DRY year round, which might be an oxymoron

I'm from Orange. Maybe I should try to remember where a possible DG course could be there. Humm? Future park off Meeks? It is huge.

Trees are not as big a deal as you might think. Leave the trees, shorten the holes a little and make them technical dog legs and tee boxes with obstacles right off the bat. I will show you guys a course that is so dense with trees you would die. Frustration levels get high but once you learn the lines its not as hard as it looks. My best at chestnut ridhe is a 60. The course is a par 70 or 72 I can't remember. The guys I played with played it as an all par 3 par 54. The heights would be perfect for a tech course.

Mud huh? Every course in southeast texas after some rain is a mud pit. I you can't get away from the mud, embrace it as a challenge to the course and wear rubber boots and bring a towel to clean off your discs. All course have character and thats what makes some courses that much more memorable. I will never forget chestnut ridge. The hardest moet tech course I have ever played. Muddy? Yes it runs along side and through a creek with steep sides in some areas, as well as muddy bottoms in others. After playing the course you have to scrape the mud out of your cleats. The heights could give us that tech course we are missing, and by shortening the course we ensure enough room for 18.

As previously stated Wuthering Heights is no longer an option for a DG course. It is prvately owned land that is being lent to the city with strict guidelines for its use.

(Now that I look back it is not stated on this thread about us not being allowed to use it, must be written on another thread because I knwo we discussed it on here)

who owns it? the phelans? find out, I have connections. Plus our play out there will run some of the queers off, thats the biggest problem with the heights.

Jeff, the Rogers own the land(July Rogers family). I think Dustin is still halfassed trying to work an angle with nthis park but not sure. The park could be great, far form etremly woodsey though but I can see where some locals might think it was woodsey.

Anyway I am sure Dustin wouldnt mind some help in trying to get that park, you should talk to him.(doesnt sound promising to me though)

I think if we do a charity tourney for one of the charities that regina rogers is involved with we might be able to sway her to help us with the permission we need to get the park put in place. I know she is involved with the garth house and with the humane society. Regina is a customer of mine and I will start to work an angle to get her involved.

I found out about wuthering heights. It's not the Rogers that donated the land but the French's as in John J French. It was donated to the heritage Foundation and they allowed the city to use it as a park. So anything out there must go through the Heritage Foundation. Maybe a charity tourney for the heritage foundation could help our cause.
