View Full Version : Tyrrell Park Clean Up!!

I think Tyrrell park conditions have gotten way out of hand. Thomas has new replacement baskets for for us to put out there, it is just a matter of getting the poles for them and putting them in.
Also, since I guess tyrrell park is Thomas's deal, we need to get together with him to redesign some of the course. I think if we all get together a put some time into the planning we could move the holes around so that we avoid some of the low lying areas and the areas that the baskets frequently get destroyed by the tractors.
I also like the idea of having alt pro tees for all the holes, we could do like McGregor and have painted cinder-blocks buried in the ground so that we eliminate the inevitable trashing of the signs by the tractors.
What do you guys think of trying to make it 21 holes? I know there is room out there(assuming we didn't use that space to redesign the reg. 18 ).
I know atleast a handful of guys who would be willing to come out and do the labor. We could all pitch in and cook some BBQ to make it more enjoyable and less of a "work" kinda feel.
On the other thread i mentioned Robert running a weekly mini, we could make that a $6 entry with a dollar going to area course improvements to help pay for the poles and anything else we may need.

Sounds like a plan scott..... Maybe adding long tees will stop the backwards golfers lol pretty hard to stay in a groove when you have to wait for them to play through..... I will get with you on some mini action, we had been talking about it and thought it might be best to rotate the site between the courses. It would give people a reason to travel more then a casual round would. Maybe even throw a couple of rounds over at claiborne park to see if there would be any interest ..... I will get with you though.. this weekend i am off to Corpus Christi for a graduation and some Disc Golf....

The only prob I have with rotating is that people may get confused, especially the people that we don't play with or people who are not online to see this site. No reason their couldn't be two minis a week though. Tues. Island action and Thurs. tyrrell or something like that. I am not opposed to trying the alternating way though either, it could be worth a try.
Claiborne is trash right now. The baskets are in bad shape. There are two baskets that are completly out of the ground i beleive and the basket itself fell off another one. So basically if you wanna play you have 6 baskets and 3 object targets, not sure people would care to travel over there for that. Once again it may be worth a try though.

Ouch vidor is out then lol
Yeah the rotating would be a gradual objective. dont wanna confuse the masses. They are confused enough trying to find the course layout on the island, I have seen so many people get lost between 3-4 and trying to find the basket of 6 at the moment lol

I refuse to play at that pos so called course in claiborne. i wont mess my putters up on those barbeque pits.
they have alot of land out there and if they invested in some good baskets and allowed us to set up the course we would do the work and make it somewhere people would go to play.

Yea go ahead and tell people about it. I am going to remove some items and posts that were made while in development stage. I just dont want people to get a bad taste in their mouth from this site if they come visit while i'm working on something and the site either gives them an error, or is screwed up visually because i'm tweaking something similar to what i was doign tonight with the course conditions images and text.

anyone have a clue where 16's basket went?
I drove out to the course today to putt around a bit when i got home from h-town and i didn't see the basket up against the tree.(for those who didn't know the tractors up-rooted the basket and someone put it up against a tree so that we could still somewhat play on it)
Anyway I will try to remember to call thomas about a replacement, since it needed to be replaced anyway.
Hopefully it is still there and somehow I just didn't see it, or maybe someone took it to repair it, who knows.

I could be mistaken and just didn't see the basket, i didn't walk over there(i don't know why) but i looked from 18 and didn't see it anywhere, i guess it could have been moved to another tree or something. Like i said who knows, maybe i was just trippin.

Scott, the basket for 16 is still there. It was just moved under that pine tree closer to the tee but it was there. No-one was playing, Im guessing due to the heat today (2:30pm) so i didnt stop. had my boy with me but we drove around to park. #15's basket and #12"s baskets have a chain loose on each one.
Dont tell us about it, DO SOMEHTING ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone have any Course Maps of this course? It took me and my friends a couple hours to play because we had to search and search for each successive tee box. Still not sure we shot each hole correctly...

We did a map a few years back, I guess whenever I uploaded the old course images the map didn't get uploaded also so it's in the photo gallery now.

Completed another project today. Each hole now has a brick with a red arrow that points in the direction of the next tee box. It is located near the target just look down ;)
Good work Tommy. What do you think about doing it on PI?
