They set up three courses in the park and divided up the divisions into pools which played different courses. The first day we played two rounds of 18 holes and the final day we played one round of 27.
The first day we had rain off and on all day long which kept the ground wet and a bit slippery but also kept the temperatures down. On Sunday, that was a different story. There was over 6 inches of water in many places on the courses and for most people they had to play the entire round in a driving rainstorm. It wouldn't be the States without rain though.
Matt Schion tied for 8th place in the Advanced division by shooting 59 57 88 = 204 Winning $135.00 in prizes.
In the Intermediate division, Tommy Winfrey took 2nd place with a 58 56 83 = 197 Winning $170.00 in prizes. Tony Bender was crowned the state champ after holding off a late run by Tommy to win by one stroke.
Scott "Fuzzy" Linthicum tied for 4th with a 60 56 94 = 210 $155.00 in prizes.
Andrew Stumpf took 13th 62 59 95 = 216 $110.00 in prizes. Now that he knows we are playing the wednesday tournaments, maybe he will come out.
Robert Winfrey hurt his knee before round one when he slipped on some mud and did not come out for the sunday round of 27, ended up tied for 36th 67 65 999 DNF
In the Recreational division James Rainey tied for 2nd by shooting 62 59 105 = 226 $115.00 in prizes.
Overall the tournament was a huge success. The Golden Triangle guys took home $685 worth of prizes as well. Way to go!
