Maybe soon...
Dustin has some paperwork done and is going to submit them to the city to try and get the city's seal of approval for a disc golf course in Klien park. This park has room for 18 holes and will be a very technical course if we are able to get it. Check out the Photo Gallery for pictures of our expedition into the park and see what might be potential holes.
We should get as many portable targets as we can and go out there to design the course if this is ok'd by the city for permanent use.

The pics turned out great. If you look at them you took pics of like 30 potential holes.
This park is filled with so much DG potential. I can actually see there being a course that could be comparable to a world class course if done properly.
Bathrooms on each end of the park is a big +. There are also a couple of water fountains, 3 very nice bridges crossing the small creek/ditch, picnic tables, small gazebo, parking lots on each end and plenty of benches.
Definately will be a technical course but there is enough room to where there can be some long distance holes for those who like to air out some shots.

No news :( Last i heard Dustin was waiting on the insurance info to give the city before he showed them the layout. Guess he wants to make sure that when he talks to the city he has everything in-hand for them to see.
I will talk to Dustin tomorrow and see if that has been done yet or when it will be done. Once that is done, and assuming that they approve, then he will call the guy at Market Basket to let them know. Hopefully they make the hefty donation that we need. We will see.

Hey everyone, just thought I would update everyone.
All angles of this project are taken care of except one.
The city wants an insured or bonded contractor to pour the concrete at the park.
Ive gotten one bid but it was too high.
Most contractors dont want to mess with it cause it is a pretty small job.
If we can get someone to do it, it should really only cost about $300.
Ive got some people calling me back, hopefully we will find someone soon.
Weve had several people check the park out, including Gimp from Houston. Weve pretty much got the holes planned, and its gonna be sweet.

Do you think we could do the work under the contractors contract in other words the contractor subs the work back to us.

I beleive that idea was already rejected since the workers must be bonded by the city and being subcontracted labor we would not be.
I think the only way to get this done would be to try to get a concrete company to do it for a discounted rate and we could put their company info somwhere around all the baskets. The problem comes from being able to find a contractor that is able to do work on city property and that is where Dustin needs our help.
If anyone knows a concrete company that can do work on Beaumont city property, PLEASE contact Dustin or someone from this site with the company name!
Thanks
ditto fuzzy,
thats what we need
only thing is we dont need a concrete company as much as we need a building contractor
most concrete companys only pour concrete, and arent insured to do any work
and quit staring at my pic

Does the contractor have to be both insured AND bonded, or can they just be bonded. Most concrete contractors in Beaumont are only bonded to do work because it costs way too much money to get insured.
