The weekend started off with bring your partner best shot doubles on Friday. There were 3 divisions offered; Open, Advanced, and Intermediate. Keith Vest and J.T. Peebles tied for 2nd place in Advanced with a -7 while 1st Place finished at -9. I teamed up with my friend Craig Lewis from Nacogdoches to shoot -7 for 2nd place in Intermediate. We shot our round with 2 pros which probably helped! Gimp and his partner bested our score by 1 stroke. Low round in doubles was -13 in the Open division.
In Advanced Singles J.T. Peebles shot -3, -7, -1 after shooting 54 the first round for a total of 205 on the weekend and solo 3rd Place. J.T. also got to compete in the Skins Match having one of the 3 lowest Am scores. Way to go J.T.! Keith Vest tied for 8th Place in Advanced with a -5 211 on the weekend which included a 2nd Round 49 (-5).
In Intermediate Dustin Galmore got solo 8th Place shooting an +8 224 for the weekend. Kevin Willis placed just out of the cash in 15th Place with a +13 229 on the weekend.
In the Rec. Division we had 5 locals playing. 1st and 2nd place went to 2 Nacogdoches locals. The first place score would have won Intermediate! Now that's bagging! I got solo 3rd Place shooting a +13 229 on the weekend. Ralph Garcia took 4th Place finishing +14. He had to card a 7 on a hole because he was late Sunday morning or else 3rd place was his! Danny Wise finished 5th with a +16. Danny was hot on Saturday shooting Even-Even! Sunday however, unfortunately was a different story. John James finished just out of the cash shooting good golf with +25 with a nice 58 at Pecan on Saturday afternoon. Kelly McBride unfortunately had to card several 7s because he was a bit late Sunday morning.
Congratulations to all who played and thanks for representing the Golden Triangle so well! Hope to see lots of folks out at Tom Bass on April 23 for the Finale of the GCCS series. Gimp and the guys ran a great event.
