This is the event that started the ball rolling on the reincarnation of disc golf in the Golden Triangle. Big thanks goes out to James Rainey for starting the event and Big thanks to Gimp for taking it over this year and trying to bring it to the next level.

Just started a thread at the SN website on the PI classic Gimp. Maybe we can attract some La. DGers. They do not have any SINGLES events scheduled for that weekend. Maybe we can a the Texas vs. Southern Nationals Battle Royal

hey gimp, if we wanted to try and get some sponsors for this do you have any type of documentation we could use to try and get them under the team disaster name? The more money in the tournament, the more likely people from the sn's might make it over.

Food for thought since the island does'nt really have a place to eat a good meal what about selling something like gumbo or chili and all procedes go to the course improvement fund. It would'nt be that hard we should be able to get some people to stir the pot and I know some of us really like to eat plus it would be going to a good cause.

John, do you have a registered entrants list?

fuzzy
09-30-2003, 11:13 AM
Gimp is out of the state right now. Maybe he will have a list posted next week.

We are expecting a big local turnout and alot of LA/Southern National players also. Of course I would think that atleast a handful of Houstonians will show too.

With Candy TL's for sale, qualifying for the SN finals and a nice chunk of added cash, I would think you wouldn't want to miss it.

I talked to the Pleasure Island Commission today and they are going to have the grass mowed for the tournament. I will be calling the Jefferson County Mosquito control and seeing about getting that set up as well.

Oh, also when i was talking to the PI Commissioner today he told me that people who are planning on camping can do it pretty much wherever they are wanting to. He also said that about 1/4 mile away there is an RV park that has bathrooms/water and Tent Camp sites which are usable for a daily fee that isn't too much. So if you are coming in and planning to camp out feel free to.
