Play Tyrrell Park and post your thoughts of the new layout. I need the feedback so we can make the neccessary adjustments before the LSS BMT stop. Rate the course 1-10 1 being sh@tty and 10 being Great. Let me know what you favorite holes are. List your top 3 favs in order1-3. Please post your score also so we can determine whether to change the par for the course. From the way it played yesterday, it looks like it will not change, but in the next two weeks, if everyone is shooting under par it might have to change. The results from the first play of the new design ranged from Tims 57 to Kennys 68. Ed shot a 60, Danny and Dustin shot 62, I shot a 65 and Rueban shot a 66. It gives you alot of birdie opportunities but one mistake can end you with a bogey. Get out there and play so you can post, its important. I don't want to see anyone playing Klein or the island over the next two weeks.

P.S. Wes, you will probably like the new layout. Don't be scared, come out and play!!!!!!!!!!

Jarred and I played the new layout today. Jarred shot an 85 and I shot a 59 with 3 birdies and 2 bogies. It should play at least 2 or 3 strokes easier for most people. It is a par 60. I really enjoyed the course and can't wait to play more rounds. Here are some of my observations, thoughts, on the layout. Hole #3 requires a pretty good drive to get out far enough for the upshot to set up for birdie. Hole #9 is a tough birdie with a small tree cutting off the "ideal" hyzer route. Hole #12 is so cool! Is a very tough birdie! About 340 ft. long straight turnover or crushing sidearm. Basket rests in a huge dead tree stump about 5 ft. off the ground. I didn't really like the tee position on this hole as this would be a cool hole to possibly ace! Not likely in current spot. I couldn't readily find the basket for hole #13. This one may need a little looking at. Was my least favorite hole. I found the only decent shot would be a huge bomb hyzer which if you threw it really good would only get you maybe between 80-100 ft. for the birdie. It seems to be one of those holes you just hope you get a 3 and get on to the next hole. This is just that sorta hole. Hole #15 is a LONG par 4. Is fairly open though and with 2 crushing drives you could possibly get close enough to birdie it. I missed a 40 footer for birdie. It will be interesting to see who is getting birdies on this hole. Holes 16 and 17 are great birdie opportunities. I believe that when the tournament rolls around that the course will play par 54 with a 53 or 54 getting around a 980 rating? What do you think Fuzzy? Close? Go out and enjoy this new layout, dg'ers. It is awesome. Still a long arse walk but many birdie opportunities, few ace possibilities and maybe fewer bogies than maybe you're used to.

hole 13 was designed to force the bomb hyzer to the landing zone. it is a 3 shot hole unles you roll it like Dustin did. We designed it to coax people into the birdie try and thats when you get outside the trees away from the landing zone.

I played the new layout last summer 2005 and I absolutely loved it. My question is, how was Tyrrell Park affected by Rita? I could just visualize those tall, thin trees getting taken out like Rita had some thinning shears. Are any holes altered or baskets damaged as a result?

Tyrrell was pretty much comepletly destroyed. Some baskets got trashed and trees everywhere. Currently there is no course set up out there, a few baskets but nothing resembling a course.

See ya tomorrow at the Island.

See ya tomorrow at the Island. That is truly sad to hear, Scott. At least I got to enjoy that great course layout once. I reckon getting that part of the park looking proper again is a low priority compared to everything else in the city. I wouldn't be surprised to see it down for a long time. :-(

We will be working to get new baskets and make Tyrrell park into a course again. The rough count after the storm was over 2000 downed trees in the entire park. One of the holes had 17 trees laid across the fairway. I think that once the money is raised for the new baskets, the new layout will be awsome. Loosing all those trees could be a blessing in disguise because of how it will open up so many more routes. We are also looking to see if the woods in the back outside the circle can be used. Tyrrell is down but not out!

Looks like we should put tyrrell back together as an 18 hole course and put our efforts toward Leifler.

A lot has been cleaned up already. We need to raise the funds to replace the baskets that were lost out there as well as baskets to replace the ones we will need for klien. I'm hoping to have Klien finished before the gtdg players championship and after that we can focus on Tyrrell. By then the park should be cleaned up and ready to go, I just hope we can raise the money needed to get Tyrrell completed by the end of the summer.
