Hey Neal... I know flip doubs is fun but I've gotten the guys down here to change it up a bit & it's worked out to be a lot more fun for everyone involved. Plus, turnout has been better because of the equalled field. What we've done is...
Determine the top players present. This could be done by tag #, ability, whatever.Say that Roy ,Fuzzy, You, Dustin, & four newer guys showed up. You four would be on different teams & the four newbies would flip for their parners( one of each of y'all). Then, it's four better players each with a newer player or less talented player. There's less chance of two experienced players matching up & two new guys matching up. Just a thought.

Thats a good way to do it. I have heard complaints from some of the rec players who end up with another rec player in the doubles match. splitting the field like that may draw more people out.

Daylight savings time will happen soon but I'd like to continue having doubles for as many as can make it on Tuesdays from 4:30-6:00. I'll let you know the starting time each week as it gets darker sooner. We could probably do 2 teams on a card at Tyrrell and maybe 3 teams at Klein once our daylight is maxed out at 6 p.m. As far as choosing teams, I chose to do it purely random just to keep it simple (and for a team to possibly get a new course record!) however, I do recognize that when say 2 "Rec" (relatively new to the sport and developing basic disc golf skills) get teamed together that it isn't quite fair and their money becomes a donation to the winners. That does suck! Often times, we don't have an even number of "Rec" and "advanced" (used to describe those that regularly throw 300 ft.+ drives, consistently make good up shots, and have a pretty solid putt)--that counts me out !, to make even pools to split up that way. Let me start a thread and we can get ideas therel.
