The days are getting longer, sunsets around 6:10 now. Its time to fire up the league for 2006. I am wanting to record all league round singles on a spread sheet in order to rank league players for an overall winner at the end of the season. Also we need to decide who will be running what this season and on what days. I will start up the sat am game soon that will play like last years, Playing wolf, 666, works etc... I want to have a meeting with everyone who wants to run the minis. Post on this thread if you are interested in being a mini director and what times you are seeking to have your games as well as what games you will host and where you will be hosting the minis Klein or the isle. I figure that by the end of Feb, the days will be long enough to star a round at 5 and finish before dark. We have 1 month to get everything organized and ready to go.

Do you know what a "post whore" is Jeff? You should start a new thread each time you want to post something !
I can probably run something at the island once a week. I'm working later now and probably won't make it to more than 2 minis during the week (I can't make it to Bmt. by 5:00). One singles round and one flip doubles would be good. I haven't decided if i'm going to run the league thing this summer or not. If i do, it will not start until May.

i hope I am posting in the correct htread, there was like 100 to choose from ....lmao
I think you are jumping the gun for evening leagues. Personally I think for a league you should just wait til the first weekend of April when time changes. That way you can start at a time where people actually have time to get there before dark. Getting the weekly comp juices flowing by having a weekly mini wouldn't be bad for when you are wanting to start. 4 weeks of minis then on to league play.

One post was screwed up and he didn't add the poll at the time he created it. The other was the correct poll, and he also made a thread to discuss the poll. I'm going to merge the discussions into the poll thread since I'm cool like that.

Thanks Tommy. I hit submit before checking the box for the poll. As for the league, a weekly mini is fine. I just want to go ahead and start a weekly thing again for those that can make it by 5. I also want to go ahead and organize the summer league. Whos doing what? when and where?

I think what we ended up doing last year worked best. Tuesday have a $5 entry flip doubles and Thursday have singles League. Since we are down to 2 courses right now just do 3 and 3 and switch the order in the second league etc. $20 entry to all and the "bump rule" (win the division move up) applies. $ 5 discount to current club members. $1 to ace pot per week and $1 mulligan at league, $1 donation at doubles, both go to the course improvement fund. We should also always keep a jar on hand at each to collect spare change donations for the club fund.

sounds great. We had regular minis then also did the 6 weeks leagues. I want to get the regular minis started for those that will be able to attend. I will not be playing on Tues or Thurs because my wife has class those days starting at 4:30. I will start a hump day mini starting next week. $5 bucks 4 to payout 1 to course repair and $1 extra for non club members that will also go to the repair fund. This will always be a singles mini. I will keep track of everyones scores from now untill this fall when we run out of daylight and average rounds to find an overall winner. In order to qualify for the overall you must attend minis at least twice a month where there are 4 wed and three where there are 5 wed. for those that play all 4 or 5 minis, they get their worst 2 rounds dropped. I will also have an optional $2 ace pot that will carry over. Club members may win total ace pot. non club members will be in ace pot for that weeks pot, not the total ace pot. Score cards must be kept for each round. divisions will be adv. int. and rec. I will also have a beginners division that will be a free division. beginners can pay into the ace pot but there is no payout for their round, they're playing for pride, bragging rights and tags.

shouldn't the top division be Open? I know it is just a name but it IS the Open division. (example: Ken Climo shows up to play, he obviously plays with our top division, he is Pro not Advanced...if Advanced is the top division and he gets to play there then it is actually an "Open" division  )

I think we should hold a mini every day of the week :-? That way we can have about 2 people show up for each event! It will be great!

I'm just feeling everyone out on this. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be no goes for me untill may. I'm pushin for Wed. or Fri. to be the singles mini. By the way Roy, some in this group will play everyday of the week if they know that there is a game out there, I would if I could. We can also add a pick your partner doubles one night every week or every other week. I was hoping to have the main games and then fill with some minor fun stuff to fill out the week so that there is something going on every day of the week this year.

anybody can run it. the major singles and doubles are going to take priority with most people, but 10 players might want to do a doubles thing on an off day. It dosen't have to be "run" by anyone, and nobody is forced to play, its just there for the taking. The "League Minis", like I said will take priority over just a pick up game of doubles or whatever. maybe on mondays, we will have 10 people doing something at the island and 10 at klein. I just like the options it presents to players looking to play. Hell, this summer I might do a late afternoon game starting at like 6:30 - 7. I just want something offered. players ab and c may decide they want to play the island every monday, even though there is a doubles game at klein on mondays, they can start their own mini and the players will decide where they want to play and with who they want to play. Its no big deal, there won't be any competition with the league but there will be competition with other off day games. Those that run the best game and have the most fun will attract more players and spreading out on the offdays means we will encounter other players to bring into the club and league play.
