I'll try. John thinks the GTDGC Tees are cool, but he wanted GOLF shirts. Cool golf shirts. Cotton lycra blend maybe? I dunno, I'm partial to soccer shirts, they breathe better. John says we're disorganized, and a disorganized club ain't much of a club. I agree. John says he'll do what is asked of him, except voting, but not till we're all on the same page. John says Jeff has not misrepresented or embellished his actions as president, but that more is needed in the way of getting people involved.
I agree with John, and this is what I think:
Well... the way I see it, a club without active members has no purpose. And in an organization of such a small scale, it's those people in leadership positions who are tasked with encouraging activity from the members- not the other way around, as I feel has been implied. IF we can find leaders(or if current leaders step up to THIS certain task, regardless of how well they have performed on other tasks) who see that it is their responsibility not JUST to say people ought to get involved, but to try and GET people involved - through meetings, phone calls, internet, usage of the bulletin boards at the parks, etc... then there is hope for a club. There are all sorts of ways to get people's input, and it is idiotic to not hit them across the board. When all options have been exhausted, when people have been called, have received emails, have read the bulletins here and on the physical boards, been approached on the course for heads ups on the goings on, when all that has been done and there still is no activity, THEN I say we're just a bunch of lazy disorganized blokes. That hasn't been done though. Hell! David VANCE didn't even get a message about the third week of league taking place at Klein!
There is virtually NO communication between members, outside this board, and impromptu "meetings" in front of the parking lot, taking place after many people have driven off. C O M M U N I C A T I O N is KEY. I won't say that open lines of communication will solve ALL our problems, but they damn sure will get us on track toward it. ANd it's the easiest think in the world today. We've got land phones, they've got answering machines, we have cell phones, they have voicemail, we've got the postal service, we've got the internet, we've got email, bulletin boards, and we've got word of mouth. Between ALL of that, there is NO damn excuse for anyone in the club who isn't just completely MIA to NOT be informed of the latest developments.
We aren't EVER going to be on the same page past the idea of wanting to go out and have fun playing DG. So THAT has to be the main focus - what can be done to make it more fun in the area to go out and play DG? More courses is a no brainer. Improving the existing courses is another(destroying them in favour of new designs or to get baskets for another course does NOT count in my mind) With that in mind, it is the CLUB that should decide what gets done, not one or two people in the upper echelons. The lack of communication has fueled the ability of a select few to decide COMPLETELY what happens, and while I do believe they had/have all the best intentions in the world, that is not what a club is about, and if that is their goal, then there is no use for a club, and it should be disbanded rather than kept alive in mockery of the concept.
All we have to do is start communicating and things will come along swiftly. SPurring the communication will be the hardest thing, everything else will be downhill from there.
sounds to me like you have everything figured out will, why dont you run for president

wow thats exactly what i said just the way i typt was not completely comprehensible.tommy read between the typt words, the meaning is there .i cant make it easy for everybody.cuz that will make it difficult for me,and thats not how john roolz,or rools whatever will gets it. thats all that matters, someone gets it and thats what is important a meeting of 2 feeble minds trumps the one mind less feeble understand? any questions ryt them on the bathroom wall someone will reply not me but someone

Well, I'll assume for a second(just a second) that you weren't being sarcastic and say: Cause I have no fuckin clue what the hell a president is supposed to do. If you guys have a manual or something to give me, then I dunno maybe. I'm not gonna pretend to know all that needs to be done by a president, or any other "seat" of power, all I know is that it's obvious to me this one important thing that HASN'T been done.
Why the hell do we need a president anyway? Same reason Britain has a Queen? Just cause the US has a president and that's the right way to run an organization? BS. To expedite the decision making process? That hasn't worked out. We should axe the president BS to avoid the power struggle, and work from a council of a few people with specialized positions - all with equal say toward the decision making, but also with responsibilities unique to their position and suited to their personality and ability. Jeff is good at making contacts and raising money. That is extremely important and nothing to be scoffed at or taken for granted. Certainly nothing to be tossed away because of a few hasty words. Fund raising/PR officer type position maybe? That's just an example, but you can easily apply it to just about everyone who comes out to play - we'd all make a good SOMETHING, and NONE of us would make a good EVERYTHING, which I think, is what you expect from a president. So presidency, I think, is redundancy. Get rid of it outright.
I don't know if any of you have ever read any Douglas Adams(Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy series author) but in his books, he presents a unique idea: that anyone with the ambition and means to assume a position of power should under NO circumstances be allowed to do so. I share this view - it is only the unwilling who are capable of making unbiased decisions for the benefit of a majority. So I think Fuzzy and Hippie John should make all the decisions.
Seriously, I think the only benefit of having a President is to have someone to (often unjustly) point the finger at when things go wrong. We can do without that. We can do BETTER without that even.

a year on the Krewe Mon Ami board of Directors as Vice President has opened my eyes to how politics in a club is supposed to be ran. We have 200 active members.. But of that 50-60 actually get involved with things.. the other 150-140 only show up to the Ball or the Parades.... We have strong leadership and they the board may not get along most of the time, we are all working for the same goal and it always works out in the end...... Now, If i had the time to do it, I would run for a position to help the advancement of Disc Golf in our area... I think we did a good job of it before there was a club... But i have No extra time to even go out an play, my term is up next april unless i decide to run again.... But i will say this, I will help out in any way i can as long as i have the time to do it.

Ah well, nothing i could have done different..hell i tried to redo it and that worked out worse. That wasnt the end of my bad luck streak that round either, i got screwed numerous times...it cost me a chance at winning league...one freakin point short of a chance at 1st.

leaving it the same, just adding some board members to even out things. respecting the structure of the organization and the responsibilities of board members. working together to accomplish things and not rushing to just git r done, whether good, bad or just half assed but making sure things are done right. If you want a "golf" shirt, let me know and I'll get em priced.

John says he likes to complain, and that, like beer drinking and kneeling his putts, it has taken lot of his time, and a lot of other people's inadequate work for him to perfect his skills. He hopes that the work stays inadequate as always so that he doesn't get rusty, cause if he got rusty, as soon as something popped up to complain about, he'd be caught speechless and just have to shrugg and sip his lonestar. And there's something about his favourite peanut butter there at the end, I need to check my codex about that.
