Its been a busy day at Klein.
The ditch work has been started and the dirt is immediately spread into the park.
They have already made it to the first bridge behind #1.
The ditch is gonna be WIDE as hell.
The ditch will stretch from 1 sidewalk to the other sidewalk, about 50 feet wide, and will run the entire park.
It will take them about 3 weeks to finish (this is what the dozer driver told me).
14's fairway has been raised about 3 feet, and it may be raised a little more, theres definately no low water holding areas now. They should move over into 13's fairway tomorrow and Friday
We should all expect some small rolling hills out there when they are done. We are trying to get them to do as big of hills as possible, I'll talk to the dozer driver ever day or so, he's cool as hell and should work with us. Jeff has already got the city to OK it and encourage it, and they have.
Jeff also got the city to give the ditch crew permission to run a dozer out thru the woods at Klein, clearing out defined fairways with a smooth dirt/clay ground. I will get with the dozer driver tomorrow, and hopefully get started on that Friday. At least finish the woods clearing before they leave in 3 weeks.
Holes 2, 3, and 4's tee's all had to be move about 25 feet to the right, across the sidewalk, making the holes stightly different. It will probably be temporary, not sure what we will be looking at when they are done.
We are losing holes 7 and 8 for good. The ditch will come out 25 feet into hole 7 fairway, so there will not be enough room for those two holes.
I moved those two baskets back near 1 and 18.
THERE ARE 18, PLAYABLE, IN NEARLY THE SAME LAYOUT KLEIN HAS BEEN. AND THE COURSE WILL REMAIN PLAYABLE THROUGH OUT THE ENTIRE PROJECT.
Of course, if they are working, then they have the right of way. But they usually wrap up around 3, so after that they're not even out there.
Fuzzy and T2 helped me, before they went to league, to dig some holes so that Klein has a full 18.
You play 1 through 6, basically as normal, skip hole 7 and 8, walk to 9 instead. Play 9 throuh hole 17 as normal, walk across the bridge toward the parking lot for 50 feet, you'll see a tee sign, throw towards the house/tennis court some, then theres another tee over there by the tennis courts, throw around or over the tennis courts to the basket by the woods edge, then theres a tee across the ditch from where hole 2 used to tee off, go back towards bridge for the last hole.
Makes a triangle, and is easier to figure out than it is to imagine it from my description. :smile:
