Was that for matters concerning courses, repairs, whatever or does that go for scheduling Leagues, etc... all matters??? How did the club function to decide on which day the next League would be? I suppose you just asked all those that play this most recent league with no regard for others that didn't get to play that one? That doesn't seem too fair. I mean I know the advanced players are scared of my game and all but dang I'd like to play a friggin' League someday.

Wednesday evening has always been the prefered day for most of the people asked, past, present, and I am sure in the future. Not a church person but I assume that would be a big reason why they have church service on Wednesday, its just a convenient day. Here's an idear, see if you can get them to reschedule Church :D

I know when we ran the leagues, we did it on Wednesday because we knew Neal had to attend church that day so we knew that he wouldn't be able to make it out there to play. It also had nothing to do with being afraid to play with someone of his superior skill level. It was mainly because we didn't want to have to deal with the BS that generally comes along with having him out there at the course.
I don't know how their decision making process came about having the new leagues on Wednesday but I'd put money on it that, that was thrown around in the conversations as to what day to have it...

They have church on Wednesdays now? I could have SWORN it was supposed to have been Sundays. Eh. Maybe since we're doing a meeting along with the league follow up party we can put that issue to rest there... Since IT is on a Wednesday too, Neal maybe you should send someone as proxy for you.
Now, I don't mean to belittle anyones faith, and it should be very apparent by what I say here, but really what would it matter WHERE you worship if you choose to do so on Wednesday? Even the grandest cathedral is a humble shack compared to nature, so what better place to worship God than in the house that HE built? Or have we surpassed Him in that aspect now?
This passage may sound slightly different than you remember, because it has only been translated once rather than 2 or 3 times, and contains Paul's own reference to the poetry of the greek pantheist Aratus, rather than claiming the last line as his own, as other less accurate translations do, but the meaning is still clear:
22. And as Paul stood up, in the Areopagus, he said, "Athenian men, I see that [of all peoples] you are the most fearful of demons.
23. "For as I went around and looked at your house of worship, I discovered a sign upon which was written 'The Unknown God.' He thus that you do not know [yet] fear Him, is He that I preach about to you.
24. "For the God who created the universe and everything that is in it, and who is Lord of heaven and earth, does not stay in a temple made of hands,
25. "And is not ministered by the hands of humanity, and He does not need anything, because He is the One who gives every human being their Life and Soul.
26. "And he created all the human universe from one blood, to inhabit over all the face of the earth, and He chose the seasons according to his commandments and consecrated the dwelling regions of humanity.
27. "So that they may love God and be obedient, and from the [beginning of] creation they could find him, because He was never far from any of us.
28. "For through Him we live and function and exist, just as your wise men,* have said, 'Our nature is from Him.'
Paul said these things because, of all the ancient world, the Athenians were surpassed by NONE in the multitude of their temples(17.22), and surpassed ONLY by the Egyptians in their grandeur, and a temple is not necessary to worship, much less an extravagant one.
So really, if you want to play league on Wednesday with everyone else, I seriously doubt things will fall apart at church without you. You certainly wouldn't be any less devoted because of it. Just as your attendance to services does not deepen God's love for you, neither does your absence decrease it. ;-)
Just something to think about.

There are about 20 or 30 other players that play dg. Should we not make more of an effort to get them involved in League play, etc... How many answered the poll---7? joke
The polls on here should never be the measuring stick for a final decision on things as there are many who will simply have no voice as they don't use the computer.
I understand now that it is a "those people that play Klein and are in our little group of regulars" League.
I'll be making an effort to at least run a mini and get some others involved.

Who else has a problem with Wednesday...including those who do not come to the mess bored??? Can you name one...two...three.... How about 15? You find 15 people to commit to a league on another night that cannot, will not, and currently do not play in league on Wednesday night and I am willing to bet that another night would be considered and probably used.
You have no argument, you can only speak for yourself and you , being one person, not playing league is not gonna cut it for changing the day League is played on. Sorry, you are assed out, live with it or run your own league.

I wouldn't mind playing another night too so i can have an excuse to get out and play 2 nights during the week. Is anybody going to run doubles this summer? There is nothing stopping him from starting up the doubles mini or a singles mini any day of the week. Wednesday is league day because its the day we chose to run league. sorry about your scheduling conflict. I have conflicts on tuesdays and thursdays(so if you are gonna run a mini don't do it on those days or do them on those days I don't care.) Nothing personal, just the way it is. stop crying. The league is part of the club, but the scheduling is really up to the one running the show. Sorry you take the day we scheduled so personally but thats how it is. I mean, why would the advanced players be scared of you? This is all a conspiracy against you. We have planned the whole club and league thing against you. Get real, get a life and go play dg. I have no problem with anyone these days on the course. I'm less excitable these days than in the past maybe. I'll never be sorry or feel that it is inappropriate to get excited over a good shot/putt in dg. I'd love to know what BS you are referring to. Don't recall playing too many rounds w/you. Apart from Fuzzy's 2 little incidents which I'd be glad to rehash, the only problems I'm having lately are people quitting rounds and some getting pissed from repeated thrashings!
I think most would agree that I bring excitement to any card I'm on! Acerun baby!!! I enjoy the friendships on the course but would hope that none of you are two-faced. Meaning being a pri** on here and all "how's it going" cool-like on the course. Peace

No, but do this. Why not ask who can play League on Mon., Tues., Thurs. or Fri.?????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????? I mean, as one of the more active players it would be nice to have some consideration on the subject of non-Wed. leagues. I'm not trying to exclude anyone from playing, I just think that we could possibly do it another day. I've mended relationships and tried to chill and things are going great and dangit, I want to participate!!!
There are at least 6 Adv. players that didn't play this league and countless others that I'm sure would love to join us that just don't play with us regularly.
I mean I know we can do a non-Wed. mini but I did enjoy the 1 league I played. Oh, yeah. now I see you are worried about the ace pot. I recall hitting 2 that League! 8)

End of subject, it wont be on another day this time. and by the way, who are the six that didnt play, and was because it was on wednesday or for other reasons.

Name the 6 adv players ....then name how many of them didnt play because of it being on Wednesday...then subtract the ones that are now free to play on Wednesday....and go ahead and subtract Ray too because he doesnt seem to have any issue with playing on Wednesday since he is out every Wednesday playing. How many did you end up with on that list? I know the answer..lol
Then what about Jeff? If we move league to Tuesaday or Thrusday then he cant play...Does that only leave us with Monday and Friday? I mean Jeff is just as important as you, right?
Bottomline is the majority and nearly all of the people ever asked, on here and in person(yeah did you know that we all actually talk to people in person?? whodda thunk it, we are real people and actually exist outside of the computer), say Wednesday is a good day. Most dont say it is the ONLY day(myself included) that they could/would play but still Wednesday has overwhelmingly been the #1 choice.
BTW, how is rescheduling Church services going? Are they showing any willingness to reschedule for you?

I was just repeating what Ray said about Wednesdays, I know, I've seen him out there on Wednesdays too, but he DID say that was a bad day for him as an excuse to why he wasn't playing league. Don't shoot the messenger! ;)
Now, me, personally, I'd like to see league take place on the weekend because I have a couple of friends who would probably play, except weekdays are bad for them because they work past 6 every day. But there are probably a whole host of issues with weekends, not the least of which is the overall increase in traffic at the park - not quite fair to other casual golfers and such to commandeer the course on the one or two days that they get out to play.
Now, that said, I think it's right to say that scheduling should be up to the person running the event, regardless of popular opinion(or less popular) because they're the ones running the show. Just like it should be the right of anyone holding an event to run it with stipulations, like the 2 meter rule, or a 1 disk mini, or a 150 class event(hint hint someone? anyone? 150?)

This can you do League on another night than Wed. thing has been going on as long as I've been playing. So, it's not working! I'll deal with it. I just want to play as much as possible and be involved in whatever organized events there are.
I had/have every intention of getting a league going on another night and put together a mini every now and then. That was never in doubt. And yes, I have every confidence that people will be out to play. No, I don't think it's a conspiracy Jeff but don't you just get a wicked satisfaction out of it. I'd get one even if you broke your pencil lead. Oh, and speaking of pencils bring yours out w/ paper for a lesson anytime.
The 6 advanced players that I had in mind were Ray, Danny, Ed?, myself, James?, Dennis?. Do we want to make an effort to get others involved? It doesn't seem like there has been that. Seems like our Advanced pool is a nice size but there are a lot of advancing players out there.

Alright, I got an idea! There may be something I'm overlooking that would keep this from working, but it sounds interesting to me.
Why not have alternate days for the next league? For people who can't make it on Wednesday(who can't make wednesdays period, and also players who normally can but for whatever reason might not be able to some week), why not allow an alternate day for them to make up their round? As long as someone was willing to take over TD duties for the alternate day, it shouldn't make things any more difficult, and keeping things in the same league would raise the purses anyway. All that would need be done is designate a TD(one who could and would report results promptly to the main TD, in this case, Wes) and take a vote between people who couldn't play Wednesdays but WOULD be willing to play otherwise, to see what day would work.
That should be convenient enough for everyone who WANTS to play league, and provides added flexibility for those of us who play on wednesdays anyway. And it solves the problem without splitting up into different leagues. Though for people who would want to play multiple concurrent leagues, maybe not so good.
CypressTrout
05-14-2006, 06:54 AM
That is a good thought. Only problem I see with that is weather conditions. It may be blowing 35 mph on wed and 5 mph on the alternate day. That wouldn't make for comparable conditions/rounds. Other than that, it would probably work.

05-14-2006, 09:19 AM
Kev's right...it's the same reason points are used in a series where drops are allowed and also the reason why rounds on different days(or even morning and evening) are rated seperately. If the weather changes even slightly then not everyone played the same "course".

ya know, Im sorry wednesday afternoons are bad for 3% of the club members. The 20-30 "other" players who do not play with us, I have personally invited, told them about the free beginers league with a sponsored payout, told them we play regular "flip" doubles just about any day of the week. They have yet to come in to the fold. So run a weekly mini, hell keep the stats and do a summer series with the minis. League is the sponsored club event. Minis are run by whoever wants to do a regular mini. If you can't make the club league, I am sorry, thats just how it is.

I hear there are some in need of my fair and balanced disciplinary skills. . . . so here I am to save the day and make your head spin! You see. . . I'm kinda like a bad case of herpes. I may disappear for a while but I never really go away. So here's the deal. . . I see that there's thrashing to be done and don't you worry your pretty little head Cheese 'cause you are nothing less than 1st on my list but as your luck would have it. . . it's late and I'm tired so. . . .tomorrow's another day and it is then that I will truely grace you with my words of wisdom. But for now I'll leave everyone with a little food for thought.(NOT DG RELATED)
:::: I think the life cycle is backwards. You see it should really start when you're old. Well, dead actually. You come back to life and spend some time in a "retirement facility" until you're 75 or your health is too good for them to allow you to stay. Then you go to work. Give that a shot for about 40 years and then collect your s.s. and retirement funds. Then you spend some time having fun, drinkin, going out, and being young. This way you can afford it. From there you get younger and go back to elementery school where your biggest concern in life is coloring inside the lines. Next you'll become an infant and not even have the sense to realize your life will soon end. Then check on into the womb spa for about mmmm. . . let's say 9 months. And then as your life comes to an end you go out with a bang. . . well an orgasm actually. ::::
I just thought I'd throw that out there. You can throw it back if ya want.

There is something about the way you talk to people that insults them in someway. You said,"You think I was serious about playing off the tag?" Of course he did, he asked you and you agreed only to change your mind 2 min later. So either you thought he had a lower tag and wanted to playoff, or you realised you did, after the fact, and chickened out.
First of all James. Good day to you. If I say something that insults someone then I hope they'd let me know so I can apologize. Otherwise, I'll just assume that there was no problem. Anyway, that's the way an adult would do it.
Shows how much you know, James. Jeff didn't initially ask me to playoff for the tag. I asked him as a joke! lmao YOU WEREN'T THERE SO BUTT OUT!!!
James, I'm not aware that we were having any problems so I'd kindly ask you to be polite to me as well and please tell your wife that now she's on IGNORE!!!

That's okay see unlike cheese thinks, everyone's life doesn't actually revolve around him, & his wednesday nights, and how "superior" he is to all of us mere mortals! So trust that I'll continue to let everyone know my humble opinion of him. But I have a sneaky suspicion that the Old Mold just can't get enough attention good or bad so he'll be lookin at what I say but because I'm on "ignore" the old bag just can't say anything back. . . . ya know if he isn't reading it. Ah there is justice in this word. And just incase Cheese don't think I don't have a #1 Fan shirt in store for you. Try to ignore me in person yo!

I'll bet you 100 bucks, he takes you off ignore to see what your saying and then puts you back on ignore. He just has to know and needs that attention. Kepp up the good observations.

Oh. . . I know he'll sneak a peek. People like him can't help themselves. Ya know what Cheese. . . when you read this AND YOU WILL. . . just remember my previous warning. . . I may disappear but I never REALLY GO AWAY! Dream about it!

I'm sure you'll do the same Jeff. And besides, I'm sure it's not positive or classy for that matter so I don't really need to read it.
Oh, wait. Someone tell Jeff I wrote that.

Back to the reason for this thread, since Neil caused drama and as usual posts turned into Cheese thrashing, I'm looking forward to league. I think I'll do pretty well in adv. As long as I take out Fuzzy I'm cool. I ain't ready for Roy yet.

Yeah, i guess i have let Roy feel secure enough now that he aint going anywhere so I can bring on the pain now. He's gotten his fair share of the pie so its time to send him back to donator land with Jeff , Ruf, Dustin and James. Dont worry though, i am an equal opportunist, once it gets to a point where I think the Open feild might be losing the donators, ill let the most worthy get a peice of the top cash to keep them around.

I do play open in league and you really have no say on a nickname, they get stuck with you. I don't know if peaches will stick, but it is fitting since nicknames are usually given to a person for what they say, look like, act like etc... You just said the wrong thing at a time when your nickname was front and center. Don't be offended, I dont think the name will be used much, I mean who wants to be overheard by someone calling another dude peaches? Also, it gives a little more meaning when Dizzy calls you peaches  See ya at the isle, PEACHES.
