Did you want to load them in a truck or something. I'm available for work or play from 5 p.m. on. P.M. me or post up. I'm willing to purchase chains but I'd like to go to the store with someone to purchase the correct kind/amount.

dont go purchase anything...

the baskets have a lot of work that need to be done to them

first they have to get picked up from tyrrel, then they have to be disassembled, sand blasted, touch up welded, galvanized, scraped, welded together, buy new chain, put in ground

first thing on the list is get them from tyrrel and nothing can be done to them until then, need a truck or a trailer, i have neither, but i'll help

Alright, I thought I had David Vance's # somewhere to contact him about fixing the baskets, and I've looked fort he past couple of days for it and can't find it, AND he didn't come play with us at league, so sumbuddy HELP! Either send me his # or give him a call or something. He's been one of the most vocal about getting Tyrrell back up and he's been very generous with his offer to fix things. I don't want him to think we're blowing him off. No klein bathroom jokes please. :?

And you can't just waltz into the store and get the type of chains needed unfortunately. They're specialty use chains that aren't carried, well... anywhere really. Fuzzy knows where to get them.

David Vances # is 409.553.1728. Whats taking so long, I figured we would have the baskets halfway finished by now? hmmmmmm is this gonna take a long time? I thought DV could whipp em out and they'd be ready to go back in the ground by now. I wish 99% of the people worked as hard as 1% of the people cuz we'd have everything finished and done.

Alright now smartass, you have thoroughly demonstrated that you're a master of taking things out of context. If you had his number this whole time then you could have called him yourself way back when he first offered, or any time between then and now, no need for me to "coordinate". At least I'm TRYING. You had the means the whole time and still didn't.

I have had the means with no time to coordinate anything. sorry, I run a business and am a father and husband with all the responsibilities that go along with that. If it were my choice, Id dedicate all my time to gtdg but I can't so If you want the responsibilities call for elections and set it up and be president you have alot more time than I do to take care of gtdg.

Time to coordinate? It's a phone call! You dial the number and talk to Vance for like 5 minutes. It's not like you have to invite him out to Camp David for the weekend to negotiate a treatise. It's cool though, I'll do it now that I got the #, we will get it done.

As for me making a run at president, I dunno about that. I don't think it would be the best idea. You see, I've read Machiavelli's the Prince and I doubt I would last more than a few months before I was assasinated or kidnapped and put on trial for atrocities. Besides, do you REALLY want to play golf on a course where the fairways are lined by pikes at the tops of which sit the heads of my enemies, traitors to the club, family members I SUSPECT of being traitors, etc? I mean it would keep the molesters away, I imagine, and the crimson banners emblazoned with the bar sinister, disc, clenched fist and slogan "Play or die!" would look nice on the course, but is that really the direction we want to go in? I just have too much in common with Nero.. and Caligula, Vlad Tepisch, Pol Pot, etc.

reminds me of a song though, lol:

Bestow upon me knowledge
Wizard - all knowing all wise
I want to rule this kingdom,
Make sweet the breeze, now defiled
Dethrone the evil prince's iron fists
In velvet gloves of sin
Parade the grey robed monks
The vestal virgins, wheel the wyverns in...

Seriously though man, you do a fine job as president, and part of that is putting up with the hard time I give you. If John was around more, I wouldn't have to, he did a better job at it than me. But you can handle people that I wouldn't be able to keep diplomatic relations with, like certain city officials. I don't have the patience to deal with bureaucracies. I think I have demonstrated that in my lack of capacity to even deal with one so small as our club. So while me as president might be the popular thing to do  , it wouldn't necessarily be practical. I can do what I need to from behind the scenes.

So do I need to tell vance that he has to file out in triplicate for the release of the baskets from your warehouse, and sign a double indemnity clause for all the baskets in case something goes horribly wrong in the repair process?

hehehehehe just find out when he will be in town, how long he needs to do the job etc..... I am in and out so once you get a day he is ok with, let me know and Ill shift some things around to get them done. And if its only a phone call, whats taking so long?

You've had months, I'm still in the "days" area. lol

Any way you can get me a description of the basket's condition? As in, how many need rewelding, how many need bending, sand blasting, etc? Has anyone checked on the baskets still out there at the park?

Alright - Vance wants the baskets removed from the poles so he can take them over to the workbench and do what needs to be done. I assume he wants tops and bottoms seperate, and that would make transporting easier because it would allow us to weed out the pieces that don't need any work. He said he would like to have them BEFORE sandblasting and/or galvanizing is done to them so that he can make them structurally sound for those processes. Welding will only take him a couple of minutes per basket, while bending will take a bit longer. He can get into the shop whenever he needs, including weekends, but we have to work around his tournament schedule. He's even offered to take a couple in his truck at a time and do them that way if need be, but I think we can accomodate him better than that, with as many trucks as there are that should be available, and Jeff Parish has said he may be able to get a low-boy trailer from his job to do them in one run.

So there are 16 baskets to be done, most of them needing bending, and some of them needing welds? What about the baskets at Klein that need repairs? There are a couple that are just wired to the poles that desperately need welds, and one that could use some bending. Should we think about pulling them and putting them at the front of the line when we do the deal?

remove them from the poles? they are welded to the poles or rusted to the poles. I'm still trying to figure out how to remove the poles on the baskets where the poles are broken. maybe use a saw zaw and cutting the poles off at the sleave and then cutting the pole inside the sleave in a couple of places and trying to knock the pole out. any suggestions?

lets do this step by step

we need to get the rest from Tyrrel, anyone got a truck?

I can help almost anytime tomorrow if anyone has a way to get the 4 or 5 remaining baskets from tyrrel.

When we drop them off, we can check to see how many we got, what needs to be done, etc....

If Vance is going to the party tomorrow, we could bring some of what we got ready.

ANYONE GOT A TRUCK OR TRAILOR, AND AVAILABLE TOMORROW? POST UP!

All I need is a time and a day(preferably weekend) and I'll bust my ass like always. I got a truck, possibly bobcat(after I gain my boss' trust), dumptruck, lowboy, and many other types of equipment. Put up or shut up right?

Do we have enough baskets?

el-jefe
09-20-2006, 10:46 AM
nope. but we need to refinish the baskets we have and then purchase the replacement baskets or get JJ to set up the equipment to bend some new ones. There are still baskets at tyrrell that need to be pulled, and thats what needs to happen first.
