View Full Version : Has anyone played this one?
I read about it, on the PDGA site, but have never heard anyone say anythign about this course. And seeing its in Vidor, I woudl think its not the best place for non-whites to go. (KKK HQ)
The last line, is a tongue in cheeck comment, wondering how close to true it is though......

It is a nine-hole with homemade square baskets. The baskets don't hold discs to well but they are better then nothing.
This is a really nice nine-hole layout with the exception on one hole.
Hole # 2 (it says 150 on the sign) is about 120 ft with nothing stopping you. It is the only bad hole on the course.
Other then that hole Claiborne has some really nicely designed holes on it.
The baskets are in bad shape out there, if someone could convince the park to insatll new baskets and redesign hole 2 then this would be rank up there with the best nine hole courses in the nation.
It is located right off of I-10 about 10 miles before you get to the LA border. So if you ever go to LA you might want to stop by and give it a try to see the potential this course has.
hrmmmm.....someday Ill have to make it out there, and give it a shot....
sometime in the next 5 years, anyway.............. :? 8) :x :P

This course will tear up your discs so bring old stuff to use when you get near those barbecue pits. err dg targets.

I'm gonna have to make a trip out there and take pictures of that course as it is right now. The park is really nice and has ALOT of potential. Hopefully one day we will be able to possibly use this site or the voice of people that play as leverage to bring that course up to standards that people would actually play disc golf at.
As it is right now I would not waste my time going there.
Thanks for the input.....we have had a BBQ incident here, with our baskets too......
Hell, the first time i ever saw a basket, at an elementary school, I thought it was some funky assed bicycle rack, where you put the front tire up in it, then chaned it to the post.

I have heard a rumor that Claiborne park officials want to fix up the course a bit. I hear they want to install new baskets out there. I think some of the holes out there need to be redesigned. That park has plenty of room to hold an 18 hole course also.
Is there anyone out there that might have an inside track with someone from the park?
Would anyone be interested in helping out the parks people in there efforts to improve the course?
I am probably not the best person for the job but I would be more than happy to offer up as much assistance as i can.

I am not sure who runs the park, I know there is a park ranger that is stationed at the entrance which means most likely this is a state park. I went to the orange county web site and in the parks department aparantly they are the head of it. So, I emailed the parks director of orange county and put a feeler out there I guess. Maybe we should go talk to the park ranger there one of these days and see who actually would be in charge of making a decision about the park.

Yea i have played Mozola. Unfortunatly it was during the storm of the century and water was up to my knees in some places. The rain was coming down so hard that you couldn't even see in front of you. Anyway I still played 18 holes out there that day and have been wanting to go back ever since(tell me I ain't a hard core disc golfer  ). Maybe I'll meet ya up there one day.
