Dates for the PI open and Klein Park

Talked to Rick this AM and he is looking to coordinate with us to do the LS PI and the Klein Park tourney. He was eyeballing Feb. 17th I told him to check with Kdub and find out when the Vic open is becausewe don't want a conflict seeing as that one always fills up. I was looking at the first or second weekend in feb. any suggestions on the klein date?
I would also like to find some sponsor cash to do towels or T's for an added players pack for PI. The discusion is open for any and all suggestions.
We will need volunteers to step up to help organize the clubs efforts at the courses before and during the tourney, this does not mean you can't play , just that you have a certain job between rounds. (water stations, organizing lunch, bag tags, helping rick round up score cards and checking them...etc)

I'm sure I can get Coburn's to sponsor again. I'll see if Rufus can bring some energy drinks.

I'll be glad to help. And if you run into any snags with Coburns, Roy, let me know and I'll see what I can do. One of the wheels at the beaumont location is an old family friend - I can always sweet talk his daughter for a favour. Come to think of it, his other daughter is one of the managers at Academy now, might see what I can do there too.

Also think about the idea of trophy discs for the tournament. I've refined my dyeing technique and can now do really elaborate designs with very clean lines. If someone can come up with ideas for artwork and we can get some champion discs together for donation(Star SUCKS for dyeing, it bleeds and fades really ugly within a few weeks) I'll be glad to do some bad ass dye jobs for division trophies.

Oh yeah? Way to take one for the team. Trumps sleeping with management's daughter anyway. Well... I take that back. Depends on how hot upper management is.

What about the trophy disc idea? Maybe a design based around the mosquito idea we were talking about a while back? Anything that would work as a hotstamp(2 tone b&w art), I can do. Except I can fill large areas that would be rejected for hotstamps.

The island in feb. cold and windy. maybe mosquie snowmen or ice sculptures? maybe ice sculpture trophies, the kind you gotta keep in the freezer for the rest of you life, or take a photo and watch it melt on the back porch. We could get a casting kit, model a design and then do epoxy casts for the first place winners. Ice sculpture mosquitos sounds kinda cool.

I was thinking, you know, since it's DISC GOLF and all, about trophy DISCS, you know? I've seen some nice trophy discs, and I know if I won a division in a DG tournament, I'd rather receive a disc comemorating the win than any sort of sculpture. It's just more practical and fitting.

what if Kleins date was the last tourney before states, maybe bring a crowd?

come up with some dates. Rick has to check the TD's site to make sure there are no conflicts with any other tournaments. just submit some dates and I'll email them to him and he will let us know what dates are available and we can make a decision. Or we can put the dates in order of what we think are the best dates to the dates w cansettle for. I just don't want PI and the Vic open on back to back weekends. The vic always fills and its a 2dayer and I don't know if I could do both if they are back to back. but anyways, we need to come up with some dates quickly to get them sanctioned.

Once 2007 arrives they should list more tournaments on the PDGA site and that should give us a better idea on choosing possible dates.

we need to decide before the next posting. TD's have access to dates that have been reserved but have not been posted. We need to submit several choices and he will check to see if any are open. I'll git n touch with kdub and find out what date they have confirmed for the vic open and post up as soon as can. I wanna say it was the 24th but Im not sure because we also talked about the 17th. (of Feb.)

Rick called this morning and said he had Jan 27th reserved for PI. It was the only weekend that worked with his schedule and didn't put the PI open the weekend before or the weekend after vic. I know its normally in feb, but hey, whats a couple days. Start thinking of sponsers, chain rest. gift certs and coupons are always good to include in a players pack. We should target a local restaurant for an after party and get some sponsorship through them. Any individual who wants to donate $ or new product for ctps or longest drive on a certain hole can do so. We will also add 1$ per person at entry to play the ctps etc so that will add to the payout for those side contests during the round, or the entry will go to the tp rest fund if we get enough product and $ donated by players.
