The ball was teed up ready to be hit out of the park and I bunted. Oh well. What are we going to be throwing for? Feel like donating a basket for the ring of fire? Now thats a good idea!

darn, i figured you had a backyard full of em. oh well, all donations, large or small will go to making this a fun tournament.
Id like to put together a really big raffle so we can raise some cash for t-park. Id also like to make a dozen "limited edition" t shirts to sell. We could also do a 50/50 split $5 ctp. Id also like to buy a couple of ce discs to have a accuracy contest. $1 a throw and 6 for 5 bucks. It should raise at least 100 bucks.
We will want to get creative with the tshirts 5050 split and accuracy, giving them some sort of mexican cinco de mayo (isn't that like the mexican independenc day?) theme. I think if we market this right, we will be very successful raising some fundage for tyrrell. Post up your theme ideas for the different club fund raisers as well as any tshirt designs.

Im gonna throw in 3 discs with the 94 or 95 worlds stamp from PI on them into the raffle as well as a ce leopard. Im trying to think of some options to ask different sponsors for. Like for instance, my company really dosen't have a product it can donate for the raffle but I as the business could purchase products to donate to the raffle. so what products should we recommend businesses purchase to add to the raffle? I am going to put together a sponsor info sheet for us to use as well as a flyer for potential sponsors. I also want to talk to Jim Rich at the Chamber of commerce to see if he can get the word out to local area businesses and to encourage them to support local disc golf. I also need to talk to giglio dist and see if they will sponsor a beer garden for all those that give a donation to the tyrrell park restoration fund. I want everything that we do in addition to the tournament to go to rebuilding tyrrell park. I am going to make sure we get every tv station and the enterprise and examiner to do a story on it.

All I can do is share what worked for us in Victoria raising funds for the tourney... we made sponsorship packets. These packets included an introduction to disc golf. Many people still do not know what disc golf is. They also included club info...year founded, number of members, goals for the club, etc.Current pictures of the course, players playing, putting, etc. The packet had a menu of sponsorship options. The smallest contribution got them mention on a sponsorship board at the tourney. The next one up got them mention on the board & on a hole for the tourney. Next was mention on the board, hole, and tshirt. Finally was board, tshirt, and hole for a year.We printed enough packets to hand out to all potential sponsors, that way they didn't need to feel pressured to decide on the spot.Important!!! Go into the business before playing a round !! Look legit & professional, not like some scrub that is trying to pull a fast one. Show them where there money is going & let them know that you will follow up with proof. Take pictures at the tourney showing their signs, players throwing, etc. We also recieved many that were interested in donating merchandise instead of cash. This really helped the raffle. Also, almost all of the money donated was from smaller local stores, not big box business. Try places like novroskys instead of Mcdonalds. Yall could also get a food sponsor to donate meat & fixins for sanwiches or something. Club could ask for a donation or just a set $5 fee for lunch. That is one way a non money donation could earn the club soome cash. Also, look around your houses & donate anything new that you have & do not use for the raffle. Example...I found some new in the box disposable cameras that I had not used & put them in the pile of stuff. Alone, that is not raffle worthy...but add it with a 4 pack of sharpies, a tshirt, and a dx disc, and it makes a good prize addition. The goal for your club is to sell tickets & the more stuff there is to win, the more tix you'll sell. Our club will do whatever we can to help yall. I'll talk w/ the fellas today & see about running a mini to raise some cash for the Klein stop. I'm sure we can bring some merchandise, as well.

kev, that would be awsome. Thanks for the advice, I am hoping some of the guys will work with me to put an informative flyer together. I bet if we could put something together, we could get wes to do a full color glossy print that we could fold into a brochure that would look very legit and could be more or less club info that way we could use it for any type of promotion and then do an added sheet for tournament sponsorship info.

I hear some works been done. I just got back from Disney. Awsome time with the kids. so we got a lightning bolt outa the j hole and Im trying to imagine where the basket is for 6. I know Dustin was looking at near the edge of the ditch to the right of its current location but it sounds like its close to the road from the posts. Im gonna try and get out there sometime this week with my extension ladder and limb saw to clean up some things through the woods. I have 8 4 x 4 x 8 posts at my office. that I had picked up and was hoping to put them on tee boxes that hold water so that we can make bag hangers. Are there any boxes with out a tee post?

yea jeff, hole 10 short, 13 long and 3 short all need tee's

also, what we need to do one day is everyone with a chainsaw meet up at klein and get rid of the little trees stumps that may break someones ankle during the tournament

10's short teepad is awful. It's gonna be a bitch to get that one even playable, cause I'm not stepping foot on it again as it is. Speaking of, a bunch of the tees are getting really REALLY bad. 4's short is nearing unplayability, and 13 and 14 shorts are pretty awful too. Somebody with very large feet doesn't have the sense to stay off the damn things when they're soaking wet, and they're ruining them for everyone else in the process.

yea, i forgot to add that to my last posts, the tees need some releveling or some more sand brought in

james is gonna get the bobcat out there before the tourney and relevel the tees, hopefully :?

I am working on that. 25 dollar will be the min. sponsorship package and 500 bucks will be the top level sponsorship. I think 25, 100, 250, and 500 would be good package prices. still workingon the details, but I did finish the coversheet. anyways, I hope to finish it over the weekend and put it up somewhere so you can download and print or email to potential sponsors. We will also accept products instead of cash but at the 100 dollar and up packages. gift certs from chain restaurants will also be accepted but in 25 dollar incriments and no less than 100 dollars worth. all sponsors will be listed in press release 1 week before event. Any ideas to add to sponsorship packages let me know. I will post the 1st version so that people can check it out so I can make changes and add new ideas before making it final. I pulled my lower back friday, BADBAD, and am laid up so Ive got the time to finish it by sunday. keep checking back periodically for the 1st version to be posted so you can look it over and make suggestion or give your approval. I hope to be back on my feet by monday, but i don';t know how long the tenderness will last. see what I get for trying to pick up a sink, a porcelen coated cast iron kohler triple basin kitchen sink! I lifted with my legs, but when I took that first step, I guess I bent at the waist a little and that was it. Luckily I didn't drop it on my feet, it just caught the rubber toe of my shoes, and didn't catch my toe. Ive been doing a ice and heat treatment and am down to my last flexoril muscle relaxant. Im hopeful but its wrenched pretty bad.

I still have 50 white t shirts that we can print on and put the sponsor logos on back. I had set them aside for this Bmt. stop but we MUST get logos on the back. I felt very bad that I told people their logo was going to be on a shirt and it didn't happen.

Problems!!!!!!......I just spoke with Rick this morning and we may not have the date for the event. He contacted Gary Duke, verified opening on that day and Duke made sure that date was good at the park and then Rick waited to secure sanctioning untill he had some other events to include and now someone else has the date.
I don't know whats going on but I told him to contact me as soon as he had any other info. I certainly am glad no one has gotten anything for the event yet. Any other date suggestions if we loose the 5th?

PS Dustin is back in the game if we loose the 5th. Got any suggestions DG?
