Looks to be fine weather to play some disc golf. Course will still be quite wet. Divisions will be offered. Just bring a few bucks and a towel. Doubles may follow. Come on out.

As the americans said to the krouts at the battle of the bulge (ww2 for those who do not know their history) "NUTS!!!!!" WHY NOT HOST IT AT THE ISLAND, WHERE IT IS HIGH AND DRY?

Someone like you who duck hunts (outdoorsman) shouldn't worry about a little mud. You can go through a whole round out there and not get your socks wet; no caking. Oh, and nobody would drive out to the Island!!!

There is no better way to do it when duck hunting, your in flooded marsh or a rice field, now disc golf, there is an option. slop in the mud and try and enjoy the experience or drive 10 min further the other direction to play a course that is high and dry that can be played without the inconvinience of slipping and sliding through the slop.

There is no "slop" at Klein!!! Wait...did I really just say that? Every single teebox is high and dry, mostly just some fairway mud.(woods holes) I've learned in all my disc golf travels that there is only frequently "ideal" playing conditions; dry, little to no wind, warm. Now when I played Tom Bass several weeks back, now that was muddy. ( Wilmont) Yeah, I like Pleasure Island but I'm not so naive to think that many (or any) would show up out there with our disc golf scene being slowed down by the weather so much this past month or so. Better chance to find some casuals at Klein who'd like to join us.

Thanks for coming out. It was pretty windy. We played a mix of longs and shorts. We'll do an ace pot next time. If the warm up round would've counted and had an ace pot then some old plumber fella would've been really happy. (well, even happier) WTG!!!

way to go Marc. Cleaned everyones clock. You should have gotten some added payout for beating the open division or at least some props on the results page. Anyway, good win.

Dont feel TOO bad Neal, at least you tied with the winner of the Rec division. :?

I didnt get out till after 4 to play, so Jeff Parish and I went to the Island. KINDA WINDY? KINDA? The winds were gusting way in excess of what they were like at last years Pleasure Island tournament. I was throwing my speed demon for turnovers, and on the hole where the pin is on the hill next to the street, I called a shot: I told jeff I was gonna throw my firebird at the telephone pole on the right cause the wind was so bad. I knife hyzered that thing, and it flipped up flat and flew straight... straight into that telephone pole. Bounced left and landed within 10 feet of the basket. I couldnt even hole out. I tried everything, upside down putt, driver putt, upside down driver. I quit when my stroke count was up to 10 or so and I had blown back down the hill 30 feet away again. I did NOT go ob though, lmao.

Was really fun though, seeing my speed demon hyzer flip, and watching what the wind does at its most extreme. I want to see what Schultz and Climo would do in those situations.

Sorry I didnt make the mini, would have liked to have seen PawPaw Vance.

It wasn't as windy as the PI last year. Wind gusts were under 30 this weekend (they were up to 34 on the island last year) but I know it seemed pretty close. Ruf played a +5 and I played a +6 the first round; then the second round I ended up with a +3 and +7 for Ruf. The wind actually was better earlier in the day - maybe it got worse after we left.

Things didn't get really bad till around 5, then it really WAS worse than last year. I dunno where they recorded the gusts, but it wasn't on the island itself, I bet. Jeff estimated around 40mph, and he's remarkably accurate with that sort of thing. I'm telling you, with the sticks on my right side, my SPEED DEMON would hold the most beautiful anhyzer lines, and the headwind was making discs turn over into roller angles, bounce, catch more wind, and get thrown sideways 10-15 feet before repeating the process. I saw the same thing happen last year, but it was less radical. Honestly, I really didn't think it could get worse than it was then, but it WAS, and I know pretty well how to play the wind now. :?

This will give you an idea - I tried to take a straddle putt stance on the hill, facing the port, and got knocked on my ass when the wind caught my hockey jersey.
