The course is looking pretty good now too. We will spread the word, thanks for the low entry fees on it also.

Keep it low (esp. rec.) so maybe some of the new Klein players will try out competitive golf.

Lots of people LOOKING at this thread, but no one talking??? Is anyone going to play?!?!?! :D

gimp imo you should have a rec division and a novice division. We have some people who would play rec but locally have some that wouldn't even compete with them

I believe Rec division used to be called novice or beginner. That's what it should be still. It would definitely deter some of the regulars from playing down. I mean, I'm a recreational player , but I don't play rec . That should be reserved for beginners.

There is a difference now though. Player ratings, in their simplest form, were designed to keep the divisions competitive. For the most part that is what they do. Some people will play all their lives and never reach pro, hell they may not even shoot even par in a round their entire life. That is why the Rec is there. What about the true beginner though? Yes, the Rec division is where they are put. When you look at least on our local level, We have some Adv, Int, and Rec PDGA rated players. Some people who play in our gold division would be rated Int, Same could be said for Green to Rec. What about the true beginners though, those in our Blue and Purple.

I know this event isn't a PDGA event. I'm pretty sure that people locally would play rec in pdga events will be playing int, and others moving up since it is on the local level. It's a shame though that in PDGA events that there isn't a special place just for the newbie. Back in the day novice players really didn't win all that much, but if they played, they got paid.

I'm just trying to say that there is no way someone in our local lower divisions would compete with a rec in an out of town tourney, or if out of town recs came in to play one of ours. Maybe i should post this on pdga's board instead of ours though heh.

I talked to pop, the guy who did the bbq for the pi classic, and if his schedule is clear he should be out there at the klein tourney with links and pork chops or something like that.

He's gonna give me a call sometime next week when he knows for sure.
